For the first half of 2025 Sofia was an artist in residence at Mime Fabriek in Amsterdam. During this period she collaborated with the Portuguese artist Inês Fertuzinhos. Their collaboration can best be described by two attempts.
Attempt 1: A composition of a high-pitched noise — utilizing balloons as a vocal filter.
Two people enter the space.
Dressed in matching outfits.
Moving in sync.
In their mouths each of them holds a balloon.
A forceful breath makes the rubbery surface vibrate, saliva is leaking. The vibrations give birth to noise resembling something like a shriek, a cry, a climax.
Attempt 2: A text, a body, a balloon — reaching other frequencies.
The balloon is an object that interferes; the balloon is an object that disrupts; the balloon is an object that supports; the balloon is an object that provokes;
